Marlboro Vs Manalapan Coaches Classic

MANALAPAN AND MARLBORO SOCCER LEAGUES COME TOGETHER IN SUPPORT OF THE SAMARITAN CENTER OF ENGLISHTOWN

 AND THE JUVENILE DIABETES

RESEARCH FOUNDATION

MANALAPAN AND MARLBORO, May 2, 2011 -- On Friday May 20th a new relationship will be fostered between the Manalapan Soccer Club and the Marlboro Soccer Association as they join together for the First Annual Coaches Classic for Charity to benefit The Samaritan Center of Englishtown and The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

In an effort to demonstrate that soccer can be leveraged for positive actions, coaches from the travel and recreation programs of both leagues will take the field to raise money for charity during the inaugural event.

Mike Hammer, President, Manalapan Soccer Club, stated, “Manalapan Soccer is thrilled to be fostering a relationship that I think is just a natural one. As neighboring towns it only makes sense for these two successful soccer clubs to do many things together.  There is nothing better we can be doing than hosting a charity event. It is a great way for us to give back to the community and those in need and setting a great example to the kids that play soccer. I truly hope that this will be the first of many events we do together.”

“This event is larger than the actual game of soccer.  As leaders, coaches, and parents we want to set an example in our respective communities for the players to follow.  We hope the charity soccer game will lead to an annual tradition of bringing two towns together for a common cause of giving back to the community,” said Jeff Rosen, Vice President, Marlboro Soccer Association.

Manalapan will host the first annual event at the Manalapan Recreation Center (Field K) located at 120 Route 522 beginning at 5:00 PM. Festivities are as follows:

5:00PM – Admission, Rides, Food Concessions

6:30PM – Recreation Coaches Soccer Game

7:30PM – Penalty Kicks for Charity

8:30PM – Travel Coaches Soccer Game

Additional events will include a competition between the Presidents of both soccer organizations, as well as participation from both Manalapan Mayor Andrew Lucas and Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik.  Admission for the event is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.  All proceeds will benefit both charities.

Local area businesses will be supporting the event as well.  Party Perfect Rentals is donating the use of several children’s rides, SportsZone in Monroe is donating team uniforms, Minutemen Press of Manalapan has donated event flyers, and BryPat Signs in Marlboro has donated lawn signs.
